There has never been a show like the Bessie & Beulah Show! It is one hour of the most raucous, fun interaction since Mama on the Carol Burnett show. Bessie & Beulah have audiences standing, singing, dancing and howling at their "stress-relievers," everything from movies to money to mothers-in-law. These feisty, malapropping ladies even have the chief executives of companies up on stage doing a rap to Men in Black. The startlingly ending, where Bessie & Beulah transform themselves into the lovely Becky and Katie, always generate delighted gasps of surprise.
Bessie & Beulah are Katie Blackburn and Becky Baker -
Katie Blackburn has an extensive background in theatre and comedy. She has worked with Lamb’s Players Theatre in San Diego and was a founding “mother” of SAK Theatre, an improvisational theatre company which performed at Renaissance Festivals and was a major entertainment company for Disney’s Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida. She majored in theatre at Bethel College in St. Paul,
Minnesota. Katie has 2 sons, both of which are out of the house, and a daughter with whom she lives in San Diego, California.
Becky Baker has been an accomplished speaker and comedian for close to 20 years. In addition to her speaking and comedy, Becky is also a high school Spanish teacher who received her BA from Biola University in Math and Spanish and a Master’s degree in Education from San Diego State University. Becky also published her first book this year, Joykillers, which is now in its second printing.
Becky and Katie met in 1975 when Katie was attending Biola University and Becky was a member of Lamb’s Players, then a traveling evangelistic Street Theatre company. The two became instant best friends and began performing Bessie & Beulah in 1989. They have since performed for thousands around the country.

I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior at the age of five, and I think the worst thing I had done up to that point was to intentionally slam my girlfriend’s hand in my toy refrigerator door. I really hadn’t lived a life of sin from which I needed to be rescued. But being raised in a Christian home by a godly mother, is, I know, the best thing that has happened to me.
I am so very grateful that I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I did. I believe that He has guided my life every step of the way and has blessed my in more ways than I could ever imagine, with incredible children and wonderful friends. The security I find in Him is unmatched. He is my Rock, my Provider and my all in all!

I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at an evangelistic tent meeting held by Child Evangelism when I was five years old. When I was 12, I was with my parents in a tiny country called British Honduras (now Belize), where they were Baptist missionaries, when we were caught in the middle of a huge hurricane. It was so frightening and there was so much lightning and rain, that I honestly thought the Lord was coming back!
I slid down on my knees and rededicated my life to Him, not being positive that I had known what I was doing when I was five! I began teaching Bible classes and school chapels, but it wasn’t until I was 27 and my husband was ready to walk out on me taking our brand new son, that I realized Jesus was my Lord, my all-sufficiency, and that the joy of knowing He will never leave me became my greatest strength.
He is the Great Physician. He healed my marriage (we will celebrate 35 years in August!), my husband is my greatest friend and Christian counsel - we have three terrific grown children (two by adoption and one little bonus from scratch!) who are all living for the Lord. I have truly known and experienced God’s incredible grace. I believe with all my heart that the JOY of the Lord is our greatest strength!

"Thank you for the fun, fun, fun you provided for our annual dinner. You are STILL talked about. They came to celebrate and did so with laughter. What a wonderful gift you gave us!"
- Gail Loofbourrow, Palomar Medical Center
"You did more than tickle the funny bone – you drew our people together in a way that as unique and fun. You’ve made a lasting impression here and I’m very grateful!"
- Greg Thompson, Asst. District Attorney, San Diego
"The material presented had our audience in stitches, and some of the ad-libs are the most remembered."
- Gail Beanblossom, Boeing Corporation
